Celebrate the 4th of July weekend safely without the use of fireworks! Last year, there were 237 fireworks-related injuries and 360 fires in WA. Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Seattle for a reason, and can have unintended consequences including loss of life and property damage.
The 4th of July weekend is historically an incredibly busy day for firefighters and police officers. Because of this, we want to remind you to reserve the use of 9-1-1 only for life-threatening emergencies. If you are wanting to report the illegal discharge of fireworks, please instead contact the Community Safety and Coordination Center’s (dispatch center) non-emergency line at 206-625-5011.
The recent hot, dry weather significantly increases the risk for dry grass, bark and brush fires. A firework can easily start a fire in these conditions. Live Wire Warning
Keep your distance from a downed line and report it at 684-3000.
Darkened Intersections
Treat all darkened intersections as a four way stop and to be cautious of drivers who may not stop.
Apartments without Fire Alarms
Apartment buildings without power for long periods of time will lose their fire alarm systems. Conduct a fire watch to keep residents safe.
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Do not use barbecue or other open flame sources in the home. The smoke from an open flame indoors can lead to death or injury from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Adopt-a-Drain
Join volunteers across the city who are maintaining storm drains, a critical part of our utility infrastructure.
Emergency Numbers
Call 911 for life or property threatening emergencies.
