Flood

Facts: Floods or the risk of flood is currently affecting parts of Seattle. It is possible to get swept off your feet in as little as six inches of flood water.

What to do:

  • Do not try to walk or drive through a flooded area. If your car stalls in floodwater, get out quickly and move to higher ground. Cars can get swept away in two feet of water.
  • Stay away from moving water. You can get swept off your feet in moving water just six inches deep.
  • If your home is flooded, turn off utilities until emergency officials advise you it is safe to turn them back on.
  • Until you know your water is safe to drink, use clean, bottled water.
  • Stay tuned to the radio for updates on emergency information.
  • If you know of someone who is unable to understand, see, or hear this message, please tell them about it.
