Snow is back in the forecast

Snow in SeattleIt’s good news for skiers and snowboarders, but might be bad news for your commute friday morning. Predictions are showing anywhere from trace amounts of snow to a few inches in the greater Seattle area. Check conditions before you leave in the morning and if you’re driving slow down and be extra safe. If you’re taking a metro bus, dress extra warm and try to wait for the bus at the top or bottom of a hill, not on it.  Information at the links below should help keep you informed.

  • SDOT Winter Weather Map: This helpful maps shows routes that have priority for plowing when snow is on the ground. The response map also features  a snow plow map that shows where the plows have been.
  • Traffic Cameras: Can help you visualize what roads may look like during your commute. Similarly, the travelers map shows both traffic patterns and cameras.
  • City Light Outage Map: Shows a map of outages for Seattle City Light Customers and ETA’s on restorations if they are known.
  • Sound Transit: Sign up for transit alerts and check the status of your bus, light rail or train before you leave.
